In 2009, the Sharon Education Foundation launched the DNT TXT N DRV campaign in partnership with the Sharon Police Department. It all started when SEF funded a grant in 2009 submitted by Officer Michael Hocking called “Fatal Reaction and Distract-A-Match”. The grant funded a piece of equipment that would provide Sharon High School students with a hands-on and engaging activity that dramatically demonstrates the dangers of distracted and impaired driving. SEF approached the Sharon Police Department and our awareness campaign was launched!

The DNT TXT N DRV bumper stickers (pictured on the poster above) were created and have been available for free! Please email info@sharonedfound.org to request a bumper sticker or stop by the Sharon Police Dept or Officer Hocking’s office in Sharon High School.
Each September as the school year begins, the DNT TXT N DRV banner hangs in Sharon Center to bring awareness once again to the drivers in our community, both young and old.
Let us all be proactive and get our kids and ourselves thinking and talking about being attentive behind the wheel. AWARENESS, AWARENESS, AWARENESS. Let’s together as a community make distracted driving socially unacceptable. Nothing is as important as keeping your eyes on the road in front of you at all times. It is that split second when you take them away that results in the tragedies we read about.
